Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) includes the evaluation of HVAC system performance using field measurements of a variety of system parameters. Additionally, it involves the adjustment of system dampers, valves, pump and fan speeds, and proportional balancing of air and water flowrate distribution to achieve proper performance. The mechanical engineer’s specifications are usually the basis for the performance criteria used throughout the TAB process.
